Info-About-TheSpace

The Space

Over the years, the space we now occupy has been home to numerous businesses, including a barber shop, a tea room, and Zephyer Designs, which is now down the street. It was used as a Democratic Headquarters during Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and was just previously home to the River Rock Collective.

Exterior
Outside, we hoped to make it clear that we really are a store down here, starting with a false storefront that can be seen from Main Street. The three salvaged doors at its center are from DECONSTRUCTION WORKS, and our new front door was saved from a 200 year old building being torn down in Mass. As for the big concrete bump next to the front door, we have absolutley no idea what it is, and haven't been able to find anyone else who does either. Our favorite guess to date is that Jimmy Hoffa's final resting place has at last been found, so we call it "Jimmy."

Interior
We found antique and vintage furniture to use for fixtures, and then painted pretty much everything white. Three of the big cabinets were used office furniture from the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston via BOSTON BUILDING RESOURCES, and the beautiful maple countertops on our sales counter were made by WOODRUFF CUSTOM FURNITURE in Vernon VT.

Here are some before and after shots of the changes we've made:
